Standing desk converters · OEM & private label
Standing desk converter manufacturing manual and electric sit-stand converters built to your spec
A standing desk converter sits on top of an existing desk and lifts the whole workstation — monitor, keyboard and mouse — between sitting and standing height. It is a mechanical product with a lift mechanism, a rated load and real stability and pinch-point questions, so it needs more specification than most desk accessories. PlinthForge builds standing desk converters for office furniture and accessory brands, office product suppliers, corporate and facilities buyers, retailers and e-commerce sellers: manual gas-spring and electric converters in Z-lift, X-lift (scissor) and vertical-lift designs, single- or two-tier with a keyboard tray. Raising only a laptop? See laptop stands.
- Manual gas-spring and electric sit-stand converters
- Z-lift, X-lift (scissor) and vertical-lift mechanisms
- Two-tier with keyboard tray, or single-tier; widths per SKU
- Load, stability and electrical testing buyer-specified — none claimed
Converter types and lift mechanisms
- Z-lift converters — the top rises up and forward on a Z-shaped arm; common for wide two-tier converters.
- X-lift (scissor) converters — a scissor mechanism lifts the top straight up, keeping the footprint compact.
- Vertical-lift converters — the platform moves straight up on columns or rails, without moving toward the user.
- Manual gas-spring (pneumatic-assisted) — a lever or handle releases a gas spring that assists lifting; spring force is matched to the load range you specify.
- Electric converters — a motor and controller with a power adapter and up / down or memory buttons; quoted as a separate SKU family with its own electrical compliance plan.
- Compact and laptop converters — narrow single-tier units for small desks; for laptop-only lifting, a laptop stand is usually the better product.
Size, height range and structure
Top width and depth, keyboard-tray size, collapsed height, height range and steps, base footprint and net weight are set per SKU on the drawing. Frames are typically steel with an MDF, particleboard or laminated top (composite-wood emission rules for your market are confirmed per SKU); finishes in black, white, wood-grain or custom laminate. Cable management, phone slots and monitor-arm mounting holes are optional features — pair with a monitor stand or cable management tray.
Load, stability and safety — specified and verified, not published
We publish no load rating, cycle count or stability result for any converter. You specify the load the converter must lift (for example one or two monitors plus keyboard, or a monitor arm), the height range and the test method your customer accepts; the gas spring or motor, frame and base are chosen for that spec, and pre-production samples are verified — in-house checks plus third-party testing at a lab you choose or approve, available on request. We also recommend that the manual and box state the rated load, minimum desk depth and pinch-point warnings your team approves. See load and stability in the specs guide.
Electric converters — electrical compliance is a separate plan
Electric converters include a motor, control box, hand switch and external power adapter. Electrical safety and EMC requirements depend on the market (in the US, buyers commonly ask for a recognized listing of the power supply and control system and FCC compliance for electronics). We claim no electrical listing or certification on this site. For each electric SKU, the quotation sets out the components, the tests your channel requires and how they will be run at a third-party lab — testing is buyer-specified and quoted separately. Manual converters avoid this step entirely, which is why many lines launch manual first.
Branding and packaging
Logos on the top, keyboard tray or base (print, laser on laminate, metal badge); printed retail box with molded or EPE foam protection, hardware and multilingual manual; marketplace and oversize-parcel labeling as needed. Drop-test and packaging tests are arranged per SKU on request.
Who buys standing desk converters
Office furniture and ergonomic accessory brands; office product suppliers and contract furnishers; corporate HR, wellness and facilities buyers equipping hybrid teams; retailers and e-commerce sellers. Private label through OEM, stock models through wholesale. See the full ergonomics range.

No certifications, listings, ratings or test data claimed. We describe what each product is made of and how it can be customized. We do not display certification or listing marks (such as BIFMA, FSC, ISO, UL / ETL, CE, FCC, RoHS or REACH), publish load ratings or weight capacities, test results, factory capacity or customer cases on this site. Where your channel needs testing or documentation, it is buyer-specified and available on request — arranged per SKU at a third-party lab you choose or approve. No medical or health claims are made for ergonomic products, and no privacy or security guarantees for webcam covers. Labeling and claims are the brand owner’s responsibility.
Frequently asked questions
Manual or electric — which converter should we launch first?
Many lines launch a manual gas-spring converter first: simpler, lighter, lower cost and no electrical compliance plan. Electric converters suit premium and corporate channels and need their own electrical testing per market.
Z-lift, X-lift or vertical lift?
Z-lift tops move up and toward the user and suit wide two-tier units; X-lift (scissor) and vertical-lift designs rise straight up with a compact footprint. Choose on samples with your typical monitor setup.
Is a standing desk converter the same as a laptop stand?
No. A converter lifts the whole workstation between sitting and standing heights; a laptop stand raises only a laptop on the desk.
Are your standing desk converters tested or certified?
We claim no certification, listing, load rating, cycle count or stability result for any converter on this site. Desk and sit-stand products are commonly tested to recognized furniture standards (for example ANSI/BIFMA desk-product standards in North America), and electric models also need electrical-safety and EMC compliance for the market (for example a UL / ETL listing of the power supply and control system in the US). If your channel requires any of these, tell us in the RFQ: the quotation states which tests apply to that SKU and how they will be run at a third-party lab you choose or approve — available on request, on production samples, quoted per SKU. Rated load and height range printed on your packaging must come from that verification.
What safety points should a converter listing cover?
Lift mechanisms have pinch points, gas springs store energy, and a raised converter with a heavy monitor can tip if overloaded or placed near the desk edge. We build to the drawing and load you approve, include the warnings and instructions your team signs off, and recommend that rated load, desk-depth requirements and pinch-point warnings are stated on the box and in the manual. Packaging claims are the brand owner’s responsibility.
What weight capacity do your stands and risers have?
We do not publish load ratings or weight-capacity figures on this site. Capacity depends on the exact design, material gauge, hinge or column, desk thickness and how the load sits on the product. You specify the load the SKU has to carry (for example the laptop, monitor or equipment it is sold for) and the test method your customer accepts; we build pre-production samples to that spec and you verify them — in-house or through third-party testing arranged on request. Any capacity printed on your packaging or listing must come from that verification and is the brand owner’s claim. See the load and stability section of our specs guide.
Do these ergonomic products relieve pain or improve posture?
We make no medical, therapeutic or health claims for any product — no pain relief, posture correction, injury prevention or “doctor recommended” wording. “Ergonomic” is used only as a product-category name. We describe construction (materials, density, cover, shape, dimensions) and build to the specification you approve. Any health-related claim on your packaging or listing is the brand owner’s responsibility, must be supported by your own evidence and may bring the product under medical-device or advertising rules in your market.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on the tooling (an existing mold or extrusion vs. a new design), material and finish, colors, logo method, packaging and any buyer-specified testing; lead time depends on customization, sampling rounds, testing and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also the packaging & MOQ section of our specs guide.
